A WORD ON MY ART PRACTICE:



I practice stitchwork and storytelling.  I draw from a broad fiber lineage, combining traditional and experimental techniques—from embroidery and crazy quilting to DIY couture, puppet making, furrier work, and industrial sewing.  My latest interest is in cross-stitch and American redwork embroidery. 

My process is rooted in assemblage, where I collage contemporary and art historical embroidery patterns, piece faux fur abstractly, or collect pebbles along Lake Michigan. I incorporate found trinkets, such as nostalgic ‘90s beads or small dagger and cherub charms.

Stones of Folly, 2024. 
Series of sculptures inspired by the Renaissance-era “Stone of Madness” painting by Hiernonymous Bosch that depicted the contested belief that mental illness was cured by removal of stones, process similiar to trepanation, from one’s head. 






Here I am performing as a “Pink Lady” for Bread & Puppet Theatre Company in Glover, Vermont.  2019.

A preliminary sketch for the pattern of the fur coat I made for Gracie Hagen.  I used a traditional Victorian era technique known as “crazy quilting” to develop my pagtt, 2023.

I used to travel with a traditional three-ring circus.  We lived and toured via a mile and a half long vintage post office train. This is a video I took sailing through the Mojave Desert ; my head hung out the windows of our swiftly sailing crazy train. 🕊️ 🌬️ 💨🕊️ 🌬️ 💨





I made a protest banner after Roe vs Wade was overturned in June of 2022 that got recognition on NPR Chicago.  The banner’s materials: bedsheet, tyvek constrution sigh, iron on vinyl, machine sewn with thread.  One more thing, Kavanaugh--you can still kiss my ass.
