Catie Burrill is an artist living and working on Chicago’s south side. Her motley of life and work experiences – from touring the U.S.A. with a traveling circus to puppeteering with anarchists in rural Vermont and recently as a costume seamstress – all manifest in audacious experimentations with vibrant salvaged materials, old world craft techniques and a quest for public spectacles.

Burrill is a current studio resident at Chicago Art Department. She holds her BFA degree from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC) with a background in culinary arts and the entertainment industry. She has exhibited locally in Chicago and received numerous grants and scholarships in support of her work, including the Distinguished Merit and Chicago Fund Scholarships from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and most recently, the Roads Scholarship for Research Travel from the Historic Preservation Department at SAIC which she used to tour vernacular artist built environments in the Midwest.
